In a series of tapes filmed some time in the winter of 2021, Lawrence documents his discovery of an old laptop in his attic that contains the (only?) copy of an esoteric “lost video game” called Vermis Malum. As he plays, snippets of notes, audio, and images offer surreal glimpses of a cryptic mythology surrounding the game and its supposed creator, the troubled lives of players who stumbled on it before him, and the shape of something cruel and hungry slouching in the dark place behind the screen, waiting patiently to be born
